Lonliness is my whiskey,
The smell of it intoxicates
The taste on my tongue is a smokey burst of flavor
The Burn in my heart is comforting
Like the love that once burned
In that same heart

But I'm tired of being drunk
My bones ache
My heart is a crispy cinder from all the burning
And the whiskey has turned my stomach sour
I'm thirsty, but the only drink in the house
Is more whiskey

But I have a plan
I'll drink that whiskey down
And I'll focus it through my liver
My liver will purify
And eliminate
The whiskey from my system.

I'll turn the whiskey of lonliness
Into the piss of great art.
I'll write my name in the snow
So those who pass will know I'm here.

Then maybe I'll have something else to drink.

Maybe a margarita of melancholy,
Or a sex on the beach of self pity.
I'll drink deep of the wop of worry
and imbibe the beer of broken-heartedness.

And when my art is on the floor,
And my head spins with a hangover,
I'll take the asprin of common sense and ask
"Was that such a good idea?"
And swear off partying with that crowd again.
